SXSW in Ten Tweets
Since there’s no possible way to recap South by Southwest, I’m not going to try. But here are some links, including my live tweetstorms from the week, that will give you a taste ICYMI. So much brilliance. So much inspiration!
Enjoy.
Immersion at Scale panel
I had the privilege to be part of a great panel on the various factors around XR going mainstream.
Encore! The room for our talk was packed and 400 people were turned away. The organizers set up an encore session for 5 PM. I assumed we would have 50 people there, since it was whisky time, but we packed the house again!
Jessica Brillhart’s keynote
The highlight of the conference for me personally was seeing my friend Jessica Brillhart take the stage to talk about her pioneering work in VR cinema.
Snap Memes panel
I’m officially too old to understand what any of these great people were talking about. But I tried to keep up.
Charlie Fink book release party
I am so proud to be a contributor to Charlie Fink’s new book, Convergence. We partied hard. And somehow, he ran a panel that night during the party.
Panel: How VR and AR Change the Way We Express Ourselves
Four incredible women building the future of the metaverse gave an outstanding panel on the topic… including some weird twists and turns at the end of Q&A.
XR and Music
So much of SXSW is about music; this panel by leaders in the field drilled into how music and XR are converging. (I’ll be blogging about that next time).
XR and Enterprise panel
I was thrilled to be invited to Australia house to take part in a panel about enterprise and b2b use cases for VR and AR. And boy those Aussies really do make the best coffee…
The Death of the Clickable Ad!
The capper for my week was getting to see my boss and mentor Julie Shumaker throw down about the ad business, from her time as a pro golfer (!) selling her own endorsements, through tenures at selling media at Yahoo! and EA to her leadership at Unity.
See you next year, SXSW! Miss you already!
